Breaking Up with Busy: Why I Stopped Chasing a Full Calendar
For years, I measured success by how much I could fit into a single day. If my calendar was packed and my to-do list felt endless, I believed I was accomplishing something. I wore “busy” like a badge of honor.
Then I realized something. Being busy didn’t mean I was being productive. It just meant I was exhausted.
So, I decided to shift from busy to intentional. Here’s what changed:
I Started Auditing the Noise
I looked at my commitments and asked myself, “Does this align with what truly matters?” The answer wasn’t always yes. That clarity made it easier to start letting go.
I Prioritized Energy Over Hours
Instead of trying to squeeze everything into my schedule, I focused on work that energized me and created real impact. When I let go of low-value tasks, I had more time for meaningful work.
I Scheduled Space to Think
Before, I filled every free moment with something “productive.” Now, I block time to pause, reflect, and realign. These moments of stillness give me more clarity than a never-ending checklist ever did.
Your Turn
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, ask yourself: Is my schedule full, or is it fulfilling?
